Traditionally from Aleppo and Damascus, currently there are large Syrian Jewish enclaves in Brooklyn, New York, and in Deal, New Jersey – and they are one of the most fascinating and strongest communities that greatly value their culture and history. They also enjoy a rich musical tradition stemming from the Iberian Peninsula, that blends traditional Jewish texts with melodies of the region.
Featuring stories and history from educators Mickey Abraham and Rachel Tawil Abraham, Haia R’nana Bchiri, and musicians Fouad Sawa and Danny Myers.
