This lecture will intertwine LCDR Kleinman's story of growing up Jewishly in Memphis with his military experiences and the challenge of maintaining Jewish practice/identity in the military. Kleinman will describe his life at the Naval Academy and his decision to lead a more observant life, as well as his "stumbling into" military chaplaincy, an area of service that few know much about. Anecdotes about Jewish life in the Navy and Marine Corps today will be included and questions will be welcomed.
